CLINTONVILLE, WV (WVNS) - One child has been pronounced dead after local law enforcement responded to reports of a gunshot wound, according to a press release.

Around 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a gunshot wound in the Shoestring Trail area of Clintonville. When in route to the scene, 911 dispatched alerted deputies that the victim was a child.

Upon arrival, life resuscitating measures were taken on the kid by the Clintonville Fire Department, White Sulphur Springs EMS, and Fairlea Volunteer Fire Department.

The child was pronounced dead after several attempts.

In response, the Greenbrier County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Team was activated.
