HOUSTON (KIAH) — A pickup truck hit a power line pole on Sunday morning, causing a fire in north Harris County, authorities said.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said that the truck hit the pole at the 600 block of Atascocita Road. The truck caught on fire, causing major damage to the vehicle.

Deputies said that the driver of the truck fled the scene on foot.

The roadway remains closed in both directions. HCSO deputies and Houston Fire Department personnel remain at the scene.
