WARRICK COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — We are still following a significant fire involving hazardous materials.

The fire broke out at 5622 Vann Road on Saturday afternoon, prompting Ohio Township Fire Department, along with mutual aid departments, to respond.

Upon arrival, crews found a large exterior fire involving combustible metals and other hazardous materials. With multiple crews working throughout the day the fire was extinguished by 3:44 a.m. on Sunday. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

Authorities issued shelter-in-place orders for the surrounding area, which have since been lifted.

Continuous air monitoring and sampling for hazardous materials are ongoing, conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM).
