WATFORD CITY / WILLISTON, N.D. (KFYR) - In the rugged plains of Western North Dakota, a softer side is taking root. Community-focused flower farms are blossoming.
What began as an idea to grow flowers for Ranae Mogen’s daughter’s wedding has since blossomed into a flower farm near Watford City.
“I started the idea of doing a flower farm when my oldest daughter was getting married… and I thought, well, I’ve grown vegetables, I could probably grow flowers too,” said Bloomberry Farm owner, Ranae Mogen.
At Bloomberry, the harvest is more than flowers and berries, its connection. Mogen has even shared that joy with nursing home residents through her bouquets.
“It’s just kind of contagious. You give someone a bouquet and their eyes light up. It makes you want to keep doing it,” added Mogen.
