Two people from Apple Valley are dead and a suspected drunk driver is in custody for suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide following a crash Saturday morning in Dakota County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash involved a 28-year-old man from Kenyon, Minn. driving a Dodge Ram northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 56 when he collided head-on with a GMC Terrain just north of the Cannon River in Randolph.

While the suspected drunk driver was taken to Regions Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the victims in the GMC were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims have been identified by the State Patrol as 68-year-old Peter F. Olson and 49-year-old Patricia A. Olson, both of Apple Valley. The crash report notes that the Olsons were properly restrained wit
