PRESCOTT, AZ (AZFamily) — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding a couple accused of assaulting two hikers in central Arizona Saturday morning.

A man and woman were on Granite Mountain Trail 261 when they came across another couple walking with a large brown dog, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department.

The two couples had a short argument about the dog. The man who owned the dog allegedly punched the other man several times. When the second hiker tried to help, the other dog owner, a woman, attacked her.

The alleged assault ended when the man who owned the dog pointed a small black handgun at one of the hikers before he and the woman left the area, heading back toward the main parking lot.
