The 10th-ranked Gamecock football team took care of business against South Carolina State Saturday night, winning 38-10 in the home opener at Williams-Brice Stadium. The Gamecocks are 2-0 and have won eight straight regular-season games.

The start of the game was delayed by over two hours due to a weather system that moved across the state and impacted multiple games. Once the game got underway, it took the Gamecocks a little bit of time to get a handle on things.

State led 3-0 after the opening quarter, but the Gamecocks then scored 38 unanswered points and took a 38-3 lead into the fourth quarter.

Vicari Swain provided the first two touchdowns with punt returns of 65 and 42 yards. He has returned three punts for touchdowns this season.
