At 13, Xochitl Munoz has participated in several clinical trials at Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
In the first study, when she was about 10, she received a vaccine. For another unrelated study last summer, she kept a food journal. She’s now been invited to participate in a continuation study.
Because of her medical history, Munoz isn’t a stranger to blood draws and doctor’s visits. She was diagnosed with a pediatric seizure condition when she was in second grade, though she is now seizure-free. Participating in clinical trials didn’t seem like much more effort.
