The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has extended the flight ban from the US to the Haitian capital into the next year over security risks, according to a report by Reuters . The move comes as the security situation in the country remains dangerous due to armed gang violence. This restriction for Port-au-Prince flights had been set to expire on September 8, 2025 .
In November 2024, the US aviation regulator imposed a temporary 30-day halt on all flights to Haiti after three US-registered planes, including JetBlue and Spirit Airlines flights , were hit by gunfire while landing at Port-au-Prince’s Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP).
