KAAAWA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hikers were rescued on Saturday off the Puu Manamana trail in Kaaawa.
Firefighters received a 911 call at 7:34 p.m. about hikers in distress.
The first unit arrived at 7:55 p.m. and secured a landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that three uninjured hikers in their 20s were at the top of the ridge and unable to find their way back to the trail safely.
Air 1 inserted HFD personnel at the hikers’ location, where they conducted a medical assessment and confirmed the hikers were uninjured.
The hikers were lifted one by one, then airlifted to the landing zone, where medical care was declined.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
