LANDOVER, Md. — The Commanders' offense scored three touchdowns in week one, but it was the defense that led the way, keeping the Giants out of the end zone completely. Dan Quinn said two goal-line stands really impressed him. One in the second quarter resulted in a Giants field goal, the second in the fourth quarter with the Giants on Washington’s three-yard line, resulting in a turnover on downs.

“We’ve got to take shots at the ball. We’ve got to do whatever we can to cause turnovers and get the ball back to our offense," said Commanders defensive lineman Daron Payne, who recorded a sack and two pass deflections Sunday.
