A shooting late Saturday on the city's east side left one person dead and another wounded, according to a blotter post by the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Police responded to a shots fired call just after 11 p.m. in the 1200 block of Potter Drive, near Mitchell High School.

Officers found a victim with "at least" one gunshot wound, who was declared dead at the scene. Medics rushed another victim to a hospital with a "non-life threatening" gunshot wound, the blotter post states.

As of Sunday afternoon, police had not identified or apprehended a suspect. The Police Department's Homicide Unit has been assigned to the case, the blotter entry states.

Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call CSPD at 719-444-7000.
