Serious charges have been dropped against a teenager accused of making violent threats to staff and students at an Adelaide high school.

The 18-year-old, who cannot be identified, was charged in May over alleged threats to use explosives and food poisons to target Glenunga International High School and public events in Adelaide.

However, last week, the prosecution unexpectedly withdrew all charges against him.

A South Australia Police spokesperson said they would not be commenting on the development, but confirmed the investigation was “active and ongoing”.

“Security will remain at Glenunga International School at the present level,” the spokesperson said.
