CRESCENT SPRINGS, Ky. (WXIX) - The family of a woman killed in a fire in Northern Kentucky speaks about the tragic loss.

A fighter with a kind heart who loved to spend time with others is how the children of Marlene Talmage say they remember her, just hours after she died in a fire.

“You can see the outline of her lying there dead, and where his two dogs were there with her,” Marlene’s son, Billy, said. “It’s kind of hard.”

Michelle Laycock says she was a caretaker for her 75-year-old mother, who was battling stage 4 kidney failure.

She says she was at work when the house caught fire.

Michelle’s husband, Stanley, and her mother were sleeping when the house caught fire just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
