NEW YORK -- Donald Trump ’s presence at the US Open caused a big delay and long lines for the men’s final on Sunday afternoon due to enhanced security at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The match between world No. 1 Jannik Sinner and No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz started about 45 minutes late, at around 2:45 when it was originally scheduled for 2 p.m.

Huge throngs of fans were stuck outside Arthur Ashe Stadium waiting to get through Secret Service checkpoints. Tennis writer Jon Wertheim Tweeted that his friend saw actor Michael Douglas waiting to get through security.

Among the celebrities on hand for the match was Bruce Springsteen , who in May called Trump “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous” during a concert in England.
