The two remaining missing kids of the New Zealand fugitive who was shot dead by police have been found following a desperate search by authorities.

Tom Philips, who disappeared into the bush on the NZ's North Island with his three young children in 2021, was killed following a police shootout in Waitomo in the Waikato region in the early hours on Monday morning.

Phillips and one of his children had been riding a quad bike and when they were stopped by police road spikes shortly after a burglary, but his other two children remained missing following the shooting.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Jill Rogers on Monday afternoon confirmed the pair had been discovered "well and uninjured" at a nearby campsite.
