TUNICA, Miss. - Time is ticking in Tunica County. This fall, the Delta will lose hundreds of jobs from the closure of another casino. The county's tax base is shrinking again. “Tunica was at the top of the Delta," explained Tunica County supervisor James Dunn, a lifelong resident who represents District One. Once Sam's Town closes in November, only five casinos will be left in Tunica County. The region was a gambling getaway in the 1990s after Mississippi legalized casino gambling. Back then, Mississippi law required that casinos be built on floating barges. Supervisor Dunn told FOX13 the region never recovered from the floods of 2011.
