Rain chances high this week

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Heavy rain is going to stick around for much of Florida this week, with the chance for some downpours lasting through midweek. A stalled weather system over the state, along with a slow-moving front, is helping to keep all that tropical moisture in place.

The setup looks a lot like last week. A cold front is slowly sliding south and will likely stall out over southern Florida by the end of the week. That means a steady stream of tropical air will keep fueling storms, and a weak low in the Gulf will draw even more moisture our way. With high pressure out in the Atlantic pushing winds in from the east and southeast, we’ll see scattered storms pop up every day. They can form at almost any time, but afternoons are when the bigger clusters usually fire up. If storms mov
