A man in his 20s has been critically injured after he was crushed by machinery at a workplace in Bassendean.

The West Australian understands the man was crushed by machinery at a business near Alice Street on Monday afternoon.

St John WA were alerted to the incident just before 2.40pm, with multiple ambulances responding.

Firefighters are also at the scene.

The condition of the man and the type of machinery involved in the incident is unknown.
