M8 motorists are being warned of delays as roadworks in Hillington get underway this morning (September 8).
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, kickstarted major bridge refurbishment this morning, including rail and slip road upgrades at Junction 26 (Hillington Interchange). Rush-hour drivers have been caught up in traffic with delays of up to 20 minutes expected.
Traffic Scotland warned drivers to allow for extra time from today as works were due to cause disruption.
Motorists travelling near Junctions 24-27 westbound are currently facing delays of around eight minutes, while those heading eastbound are jammed in 20 minute hold-ups.
The £9 million works will be over five phases, which will include significant repairs, upgrades to four key bridge structures, addressing vehicle pa
