Baillieston is set for a new Aldi as a result of a continued expansion in the east end of the city.

In a welcome boost to the local economy, the new location will open up 16 job positions as they look to build a new team of 14 store assistants and two cleaners.

Aldi is the UK’s highest-paying supermarket and will become the first to pay store assistants at least £13.02 an hour and the team say they are keen to offer the local community "stable career opportunities".

This new minimum rate came into effect on September 1 and exceeds the Real Living Wage of £12.60 an hour that was set by the Living Wage Foundation in October last year. Based on the length of service, Store Assistants’ pay will rise further to £13.93 nationally.
