Glasgow has more bookies than anywhere else outside of London according to a councillor who is slamming the UK government over lack of action to tackle gambling harm.

Shettleston councillor Laura Doherty is calling on elected members to affirm their commitment to tackling gambling harms following the Government’s announcement of the gambling levy.

The council’s chief executive has written to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport and the Minister for Gambling to seek assurances on a public health approach to reduce gambling harms in Glasgow and ensure fairer funding for the city.
