The first named storm of the season will batter Britain this week — with an "Intense surface cyclone" bringing gale-force winds to the UK. Weather experts have warned of bring gales, four inches of rain and 20ft waves. ‌

Western areas are at risk of thunder today (Monday) while scattered showers are forecast for much of the country by the afternoon. These showers are set to continue in the southwest on Tuesday but heavier showers and blustery conditions are due later in the week. ‌
