A driver has been cleared of mounting a pavement at speed and trying to hit two workmen. ‌

David McFarlane, 62, was accused of assaulting the pair after a confrontation outside his Strathaven home. ‌

But he was acquitted following a trial before a jury at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week. ‌

The alleged incident was said to have happened in Muirkirk Road on April 19 last year.
