UK households could save £292 per year on energy bill ahead of the price cap rise on October 1. The energy price cap could impact around 22 million households on a certain tariff, according to a savings expert.

Ofgem announced last month that the energy price cap will be increased by 2% from October 1 to December 31, 2025. This means the current cap of £1,720 will rise by £35 to £1,755.

But the Ofgem policy merely caps the unit rates and standing charges of standard variable tariffs (SVT). So, if the SVT customers use more than the advertised average annual cost, they will pay even more.
