I appreciate the Yankees finding a way to fight back after the 7-1 loss that began this home series against Toronto. It could have ended poorly with them just rolling over as the Jays kept dominating while waltzing to the AL East crown. And that still might happen! Toronto (and Boston) holding the tiebreaker over New York is a crusher, especially since it will likely accompany a first-round bye. However, the Yankees have at least given themselves a chance — perhaps a small comfort in one sense given the division lead they once had in the first half, but what’s done is done. The only way forward is, well, forward.
