HYDE PARK – Town of Hyde Park officials conducted a surprise inspection at the troubled Stone Ledge Apartments on Farm Lane on Sunday, following repeated complaints from residents about the non-working elevator, the only one in the three-story, senior living complex with more than 300 tenants, owned by Conifer Realty LLC.

The owners are the same company selected by Governor Kathy Hochul to turn the former Downstate Correctional Facility into a large-scale apartment complex in Fishkill, New York .

Building Inspector Rick Croniser, accompanied by Town Supervisor Al Torreggiani and Chief of Staff John Lombardi, was granted access to the facility by the onsite maintenance worker for the purpose of inspecting the elevator, which has been reported as “out of service” for an extended period
