An Edinburgh man has been rushed to hospital and charged after a crash on the city bypass on Monday morning.

Around 7.50am on September 8, police and paramedics raced to the A720 near Gilmerton after the collision involving a car and a motorbike.

A 24-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and has been charged with a road traffic offence.

One passer-by said: "If anyone's heading that way! Accident on the A720 Edinburgh Bypass. Bike and car involved. One lane closed with police on scene."

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Around 7.50am on Monday, 8 September, 2025, we received a report of a crash involving a car and a motorbike on the A720 near Gilmerton, Edinburgh.
