Intelligence, charm, appearance, and … politics? For today’s teens, politics is more than a vote cast in November, but a core value that potentially impacts who they’ll date. According to a recent SheKnows Teen Council survey, teenagers are considering a potential romantic partner’s political affiliation, and, in the case of opposing political views, often times finding it’s a dealbreaker.
In our survey of teens, most of whom were too young to vote (65 percent), a majority of respondents described that they would be somewhat uncomfortable or very uncomfortable dating someone with an opposing political affiliation. However, a closer look at the data reveals that comfort level may depend on gender.
More than half of the female respondents we surveyed were somewhat uncomfortable dating some
