Train passengers and rail users who utilise Trainline have been issued a warning. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ruled that adverts for the online train ticket retailer, which claimed its prices were unbeatable, were "misleading".
A TV advert featuring a robot on a fictional planet stating: "You won't find cheaper same-day tickets anywhere else" was found to be in breach of broadcasting rules.
The ASA made the same judgement regarding a radio advert, which featured a man on an archaeological dig claiming: "We won't find cheaper tickets anywhere else".
Trainline defended the adverts, explaining they related to its Best Price Guarantee (BPG), where it promises to refund the difference if a customer finds a lower price elsewhere after purchasi
