September 8, 1920 - Daytime airmail service began in the United States on Sept. 8, 1920.
The first shipment from the east was flown into Omaha by pilot James Murray.
During the early development of the U.S. Postal Air Mail service the hangars located at Ak-Sar-Ben Field were used extensively. Nightmail flying would begin in North Platte in 1921.
