AUBURN, Ala. ( WSFA ) - The Auburn Police Department has identified and arrested a suspect after a woman was found dead in Auburn’s Kiesel Park Saturday afternoon.

Harold Rashad Dabney III has been charged with two counts of capital murder after the body of 59-year-old Dr. Julie Gard Schnuelle, a retired Auburn University professor, was discovered in a wooded area within the park.

Schnuelle was pronounced deceased around 2 p.m. Saturday. Her body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy.

The specific circumstances leading up to her death are still being investigated by the Auburn Police Department, but police say her injuries indicated that her death was caused by an assault.
