Jay Stansfield is ‘as good as anybody’ in the Championship when it comes to pressing from the front according to Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman.

Birmingham City talisman Stansfield has picked up where he left off two years ago with two goals in his opening three Championship matches.

He missed the defeat to Leicester City last time out with an ankle knock and Blues struggled without him.

Stansfield was heavily scrutinised and, at times, criticised by opposition fans last season due to the hefty fee Blues paid Fulham to sign him.

Nine of the striker’s 19 goals in League One came from the penalty spot and he was targeted as a result.

Goodman felt that criticism was harsh and pointed out Stansfield’s off-the-ball qualities that few of his Championship peers can match.
