An off-duty Huntsville Police officer was arrested for driving under the influence early Saturday morning after a two-vehicle crash, according to police.

The crash happened about 2:30 a.m. on Church Street and Wheeler Avenue. One driver had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police say Officer Scott Hartman, 35, was arrested following the crash because he showed signs of impairment. The police department also placed Hartman on administrative assignment.

Hartman was booked into the Madison County Jail Saturday, but jail records show he was released on a $1,000 bond later the same day.
