A federal appeals court upheld an $83.3 million defamation judgment against Donald Trump in a case brought by writer E. Jean Carroll .
The judges rejected Trump’s appeal, as his attorneys argued that the verdict was excessive and that he was shielded by presidential immunity.
Carroll sued Trump, claiming that he lied about sexually assaulting her in a 1996 incident at Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan.
