YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — Visitors to Yellowstone National Park are waiting longer this summer before booking a room inside the park.
"Usually we see a minimum of about 120 day booking window, but this year we have seen much more last-minute bookings from visitors, meaning within 30 days or so," said Todd Walton, director of Marketing & Sales for Yellowstone National Park Lodges.
Walton said the trend is being experienced by his company, Xanterra Resorts, nationwide.
"People are still traveling but looking for last-minute deals and assessing where they are with family budgets," Walton wrote in an email. "As an example, folks are coming to Yellowstone, but instead of staying in Mammoth, they may stay at a less expensive room in Canyon or Grant ... or even camp if they want to stay in t
