PEORIA, Ill. – An investigation is underway after shots were fired in West Peoria early Monday morning.

Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says deputies made contact with a person at around 5:00 A.M. in the area of Callender and Western Avenue.

The person stated that they had just picked up a male from the jail and were driving back to the area. While they were driving, the person stated that a heavy set black male with chin-length dreads and a gray hooded sweatshirt reportedly fired two shots at the vehicle in the area of Cedar and Ayres.

Watkins says two casings were found along the sidewalk in the area of the shooting, and two projectiles were found lodged in the vehicle.

Watkins says no one was injured in the shooting.
