GAYLORD ― High school sports are in full swing around Northern Michigan, and athletes around the Gaylord area are already performing at a high level.

It's been about a month since games officially got underway around Otsego County, with Week 2 of the high school football season wrapped up and a clearer picture of the top contenders around the Big North, Ski Valley and Northern Michigan Football Conference. We've also gotten a good idea of who has a chance to be competitive among the area volleyball. cross country and soccer teams through 3-4 weeks of games, and who will be leading those teams in the near future.
