With federal immigration officials carrying out a promised enforcement surge in Massachusetts, the two Republicans running for governor in 2026 say they’d do everything they could to cooperate if they were in charge.

“Mike has made clear since the first day of his campaign that he supports Republican efforts to close the border and get criminals out of our state,” Logan Trupiano, a spokesperson for GOP hopeful Mike Kennealy, said in an email to MassLive.

The Republican makes his stance even more explicit on his campaign’s official website : “We will cooperate with federal authorities to remove them [people in the country illegally] our shelters, our streets, and out of our state.
