STONINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Stonington police released dashcam footage Monday of a suspect allegedly striking a pedestrian last week.

Police responded on Aug. 30 to a crash in which a pedestrian was struck and the driver fled the scene. Officers located the injured pedestrian and were directed by witnesses to the suspect vehicle, which was stopped in traffic nearby.

The video shows the driver, identified as 75-year-old Wendell Hisle, briefly speaking to officers before driving into a stone wall deliberately near where the victim was sitting, with other people in close proximity.

Hisle then fled, but was stopped a short distance away by police.
