UNLV quarterback Anthony Colandrea is the Mountain West Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, the league announced this morning.
It’s the first time in program history that a quarterback has won the award in consecutive weeks, the university said.
Colandrea, a junior who transferred from Virginia, led UNLV to a 30-23 win over UCLA on Saturday by completing 15 of 21 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 59 yards on 11 attempts, including gaining 40 yards on the ground in the eventual game-winning scoring drive in the fourth quarter.
“This is so huge for our program,” Colandrea told CBS Sports after the game. “We have been thinking about this game since January.”
Two other UNLV quarterbacks have earned multiple Mountain West weekl
