A young girl who witnessed the Southport stabbings ran into her dad's arms and begged him to make sure her older sister didn't die. The girls' mum choked back tears as she read her witness statement to a hushed Liverpool Town Hall during the first day of the resumed Southport Inquiry today, Monday.
The mum and her partner, who cannot be named to ensure their children's anonymity is protected, told the inquiry that their two daughters "witnessed and endured an unimaginable act of violence" on July 29 last year, when Axel Rudakubana carried out the mass stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance party.
Three girls - Bebe King, Alice da Silva Aguiar and Elsie Dot Stancombe - were murdered during the attack and 10 others suffered injuries. Sixteen others also survived but continue to live with
