Edgewater took over the No. 1 spot in the Sentinel’s Super 16 Coaches Poll this week after previous No. 1 Jones was upset by then No. 14 Evans on Saturday 28-25 .
Edgewater, 3-0 after a 48-0 rout of Freedom, received 10 first place votes. Despite the loss, Jones (2-1) remained top-ranked on three ballots. West Orange (3-0) and DeLand (3-0) each received a No. 1 vote.
The Saturday morning upset by Evans, coupled with last week’s No. 3 team Lake Mary losing at Lakeland 32-13, wreaked a bit of havoc on the Super 16 voting, as 13 of the 16 teams changed positions from last week’s rankings.
