Syracuse, N.Y. — A vacant house in Syracuse was damaged by a fire Sunday night, firefighters said.

Around 9:14 p.m., firefighters were called to 204 Lincoln Ave. where smoke and flames could be seen at the rear of a 2 1/2-story home, according to Capt. Erik Caster, a spokesperson for the fire department.

Fire crews found the fire in the rear stairwell and knocked it down within 10 minutes, Caster said. The blaze was fully extinguished in about 15 minutes and a search of the home confirmed no one was inside.

The stairwell suffered fire damage, while the rest of the building had minor smoke and water damage. The home was vacant, Caster said.

No injuries were reported, and investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
