A media report says the FBI and U.S. Capitol Police are investigating what has been described as a Chinese hacking attempt using an email purportedly from U.S. Rep. John Moolenaar, R-Caledonia, to try to spy on trade groups, law firms and government agencies.
The Wall Street Journal reported Sept. 7 that in July, staff for the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party began getting questions about an email sent under Moolenaar's name from a nongovernmental address asking for the organizations that received it to review and comment on an attachment that discussed proposed sanctions on China.
