The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is sending a team to St. Maarten to investigate a hard landing involving a WestJet flight. The incident occurred yesterday when flight WS2276, traveling from Toronto, arrived at Princess Juliana International Airport around 1 p.m. ET.

According to the airport, there were 164 passengers on board the Boeing 737-800. Following the landing, three individuals were taken for medical assessment after a safe evacuation. The airport reported that the plane's right wing sustained damage upon contact with the runway. A video released by the airport showed what appeared to be collapsed landing gear on the right side of the aircraft.

As a result of the hard landing, all flights in and out of the airport were temporarily halted. Passengers were advised to contact their airlines for rescheduling and changes to their travel plans. A WestJet recovery team is currently working to remove the aircraft from the runway, with expectations that it will be cleared by this afternoon.
