As President Donald Trump departed the White House for the U.S. Open on Sunday, a reporter asked what seemed like a highly inflammatory question.

“Are you trying to go to war with Chicago?” said NBC’s Yamiche Alcindor.

“When you say that, darling, that’s fake news,” Trump shot back.

Alcindor tried to ask a follow-up question and the president unloaded on her.

“Listen. Be quiet. Listen. You don’t listen. You never listen. That’s why you’re second-rate,” he said. “We’re not going to war. We’re going to clean up our cities. We’re going to clean them up so they don’t kill five people every weekend. That’s not war, that’s common sense.”
