West Shore police officers who shot a 23-year-old woman carrying a BB gun last month have been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing, the Cumberland County district attorney announced Monday.

Two officers fired seven times at the woman after she pointed the BB gun at them, hitting her in the hip and grazing her in the head, District Attorney Sean McCormack said. She survived her injuries.

The incident started with an anonymous 911 call about a woman “going crazy” and in distress about 6:40 p.m. on Aug. 25 under the Interstate 83 bridge in Lemoyne.

McCormack provided new details about the shooting at an 11:30 a.m. news conference Monday:
