SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A man from Shreveport has been arrested for alleged benefits fraud.

Attorney General Liz Murrill announced Monday, Sept. 8 that Maurice Williams, 43, has been arrested for alleged misrepresentations concerning benefit payments and other charges.

The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) first started looking into Williams after getting allegations of workers compensation fraud and perjury. Agents got info that Williams, former 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals information technology director, had committed workers comp fraud after claiming a workplace injury.

The AG’s office says the investigation shows Williams also committed perjury by submitting a forged email, supposedly from his attorney, in support of his fraudulent injury claim during a deposition.
