ST. LOUIS — One man died and eight people were injured in a string of four apparently unrelated shootings Sunday night across the city.
The fatal shooting took place about 8:30 p.m. in the 4200 block of West Cote Brilliante Avenue. Police found Michael Durley, 31, with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the other incidents:
• A 37-year-old woman was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital after an incident about 7:30 p.m. in the 1515 block of Hickory Street. A man, 53, was struck in the head but refused medical treatment, police said. Police said a preliminary investigation found that "an earlier argument escalated into gunfire."
• At about 8:10 p.m., five men ranging in age from 20 to 67 were injured as multiple people exchanged gunfire at Cherokee Street and Nebr
